#7a Wiring for the power to Seat

Wiring for the seats is a Chinese puzzle. There is no manufacturer instruction on this. The manuals say to tie your electrical power source into the B post because it is tied to the ignition switch. They identified a specific hole in the wiring sockets for auxiliary devices that should be used for the power to a new device. I bought the adapter and the posts to do this -put it together and “No Power” -I was pissed.

  1. So I bypassed that and went to the panel to the lower left of the steering wheel and did a fuse tap (from Autozone) in the number 4 slot with a 10 amp fuse (manufacturer of the seats says 10 amp is sufficient). It is NOT controlled through the ignition switch so you would not want to leave seat heater on! It works great.

  2. You need to tap splice another wire off the power wire under the driver seat to the driver’s seat so each seat has power. You can use a tap splice for this. Make sure there is some extra to allow for rotation of the seat on the pedestal. See post 7b

  3. You will to drill a hole at the back of each seat in the floor metal at the back left corner of the seat for a self tapping screw as a ground for the seat wiring, and install the correct screw, but install the screw only when you are ready to ground the airbag bypass.

  4. Fabricate a ground wire with a (female)spade connector crimped to the end and a spade connector ( male) to crimp to the seat pigtail for each seat.

  5. Pass the power wire from the left seat under the black metal transition threshold between the seats to the passenger seat with enough extra to allow some latitude in sliding and rotating the seat
