This wiring situation is a Gordian knot!

I spent two months following unproductive rabbit trails after the manufacturer told me “Oh it’s easy and all over the internet.” Well there was nothing I could find about the 2021 Promaster with its unique wiring for the Airbag System and the passenger occupancy sensor system. The normal SRS “simulator s” did not work-for a reason I only discovered after taking the seats apart. I spent $200 in meters and resistors and resistor sockets (from China) to no avail and two months searching for answers. Finally I got angry-and took the seats apart! Voila!

(The seats need to not have been connected to power for days so there is no stored electrical charge. )

  1. Unzip the seat back cover and then cut the lower back cover so you can peel it back

  2. Carefully cut the zip ties from the airbag and occupancy sensor (on the passenger seat) wiring as it is fastened to the seat frame.

  3. Pull the seat foam away from the side airbag carefully and you will see two things: a ground wire going to the airbag container negative post, and two wires going to the top of the airbag ignitor.

  4. On the airbag ignitor you will see an orange tab where the wires connect. Carefully use a thin blade to gently lift that orange tab and the unit should detach easily from the ignitor (also called a squib) with the two other wires

  5. Remove the nut from the ground wire on the airbag case and remove the wire.

  6. You now have a complete airbag wiring assembly. ((you can find it for 127$ on MOPAR , but it was back ordered.) Do the same for the other seat.

  7. On the passenger seat carefully cut the seat bottom center panel from the top along the outer lines of the seat insert (see pictures) to remove the passenger accuracy sensor. DO NOT CUT THE WIRING OR THE SENSOR. Pull the wiring for the sensor through the top of the seat bottom-careful to kit damage the sensor!

See the pictures above for further info.
