Disconnect the battery positive terminal and wait 30 minutes (necessary because you will be disconnecting the side air bag connector on both seats)
Remove the plastic shrouds on the sides of the seats to access the bolts that hold the seat to the pedestal (small Phillips screws)
Disconnect the seat belt tensioner wiring which are black plastic connectors (under the seat)
Disconnect the orange plastic side airbag wiring connectors (under the seat)
On the passenger seat disconnect the occupant detection wiring (a yellow plastic connector)
Slide the seats all the way forward to access the 4 rear bolts.
Here is where it gets more difficult-the bolts in the 2021 chassis were star drive and so tight three stripped. I bought a star drive extractor, which Fed Ex took a week to deliver-and in the interim borrowed my son in law’s extractor that fits over the top of the bolt. It did not fit because it had a shoulder that could not slide down into the rails far enough to grab-so I ground off the shoulders and it worked- as you can imagine this was an exercise in restraining from cursing! The outside front corner bolt of each seat turned out to be stripped later when I went to bolt in the new seats.
Now you can lift out the seats
Save the seats because you will disassemble the seat belt receptacle and the tensioner and use all of those parts on the new seats- AND -you will take the side air bag wiring out of both seats and the occupant sensor out of the passenger seat (Not now-as there will be specific instructions on this in a later post
